  André Bourbonnais, Senior Vice President, Private Investments

With more than 20 years experience in executing investment transactions, André is responsible for leading private equity investments in the CPP portfolio.
 
Prior to joining the CPP Investment Board, André managed a private equity portfolio in financial services, telecommunications, media, and entertainment sectors for another Canadian pension plan manager.
 
Before entering the private equity space, André spent several years with a leading telecommunications company mostly as a senior officer responsible for corporate development and legal affairs.
 
André started his career as a corporate lawyer with a major Canadian law firm and then a consultant for a European merger & acquisition consulting boutique. He earned his degrees from the London School of Economics and the University of Ottawa.

André also serves as director of Anglian Water Group and IMS Health Inc.

Paul Mullins, Vice President, Head of Portfolio Value Creation

Paul is responsible for leading the Portfolio Value Creation group, supporting management of the individual investments in creating value for the Private Investments portfolio.

Paul has over 16 years of experience in commercial and operational improvement. Paul was most recently part of the portfolio team at Permira Advisors LLP. Prior to this, he was a Partner and Managing Director at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) where he was head of the Private Equity practice for the UK and was responsible for advising firms on multiple transactions as well as driving strategy and operational change.

Paul holds an MA/MChem from the University of Oxford.

James Bryce, Senior Principal

Prior to joining CPPIB,  James was a Managing Director and Investment Committee member at Royal Bank Equity Finance (the private equity arm of RBS) where he spent 10 years focused on private equity and infrastructure transactions.  Prior to RBS, James worked at JP Morgan Capital and Hambros Bank. 

James holds an M.A. (Theology) from the University of Oxford.

Justain Bracken, Principal

Prior to joining CPPIB, Justain was a Principal and Chief of Staff for EMEA at BCG where he spent over 8 years in the Energy & Utilities, Industrial Goods, Media and Private Equity sectors. During this time he worked with senior executives in over 20 countries in Europe and North America to drive and manage commercial and strategic change.  Justain has also worked for NASA as a project manager on a satellite instrument program for 2 years and most recently as a director in his own senior advisory firm immediately before joining CPPIB.

Justain holds a D.Phil. from Oxford University in Atmospheric Physics, a 1st class Masters in Astrophysics from Cardiff University and is a UEFA qualified soccer coach.

  Stephen Huntley, Principal

Prior to joining CPPIB, Stephen was a Principal at BCG where he spent over 9 years in the Industrial Goods, Consumer/Retail and Private Equity sectors.  Stephen was a core member of the Organization and Operations practices in Australia and the UK specializing in large scale transformations.  Prior to BCG, Stephen worked for 7 years in a variety of management and operational roles at Siemens in the US, Germany and China.

Stephen holds a 1st class Masters of Engineering and Management from the University of Birmingham, and an MBA with distinction from INSEAD.

Polina Yampolska, Principal

Prior to joining CPPIB, Polina was a Principal with The Boston Consulting Group, where she spent 10 years advising clients on organizational effectiveness, large-scale transformations, and design and implementation of strategic initiatives.  She served clients in Health Care, Financial Services, and other industries.  Polina was also a topic expert on public-private partnerships.  Prior to BCG, Polina worked in Ukraine with a local consulting firm developing and implementing World Bank and European Union-sponsored infrastructure and restructuring initiatives. 

Polina holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School and a BS Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Jim Fasano, Vice President, Head of Funds, Secondaries & Co-Investments

Jim is responsible for CPPIB’s direct investments funds, secondaries and co-investments in private equity. He joined the CPP Investment Board in 2004 and has been a member of the Principal Investing group since its inception.

Prior to joining CPPIB in 2004, he worked in the Investment Banking group at Merrill Lynch & Co., focusing on companies in the media and telecommunications sectors. Previously, he was a member of the Mergers & Acquisitions group at RBC Capital Markets and a Commissioned Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces.

Jim holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the Royal Military College of Canada and an International Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.

He currently serves on the boards of IMS Health, LHP Hospital Group and AWAS Aviation Capital.

Jennifer Kerr 

Jennifer Kerr, Vice President, Head of Funds

Jennifer has been a member of the Funds team since December 2004.  Prior to joining CPP Investment Board, Jennifer worked at MWI & Partners, a Canadian middle market buyout fund, and Merrill Lynch in investment banking in Toronto and structured finance in London.

Prior to joining CPP Investment Board in September 2007, Julie was a project leader at The Boston Consulting Group. Suyi Kim, Managing Director, Private Equity Asia
(Hong Kong Office)

Suyi is a founding senior member of CPPIB Asia and currently responsible for leading Private Investments in Asia with a focus on Funds & Secondaries.

Suyi joined CPPIB from Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, where she focused on private equity funds & co-investments in Asia, Europe and the U.S. Prior to that, she was with The Carlyle Group making direct private equity investments in Asia. Suyi also worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Co. and an auditor at Pricewaterhouse Coopers.

She holds an MBA from Stanford and a BA from Seoul National University. She is also a Certified Public Accountant.

Peter Chen, Senior Principal
(Hong Kong Office)

Peter is responsible for leading private equity principal investing activities in Asia.

Peter joined CPPIB from Bain Capital, where he was Principal and a founding member of Bain Capital Asia. He was previously General Manager at General Electric Corporate Financial Services, a unit of GE Capital, in Taiwan with Greater China leadership responsibilities.

Peter received his MBA from Harvard Business School, and BSBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill including Japanese studies at Keio University in Tokyo. He serves as the Deal Network Ambassador and Finance Officer at Young Presidents' Organization's pan-Asia Chapter.

Leo joined CPP Investment Board in 2008 when the Hong Kong office was established. Alain Carrier, Managing Director-Europe & Head of Infrastructure

Alain is responsible for leading the Private Investments department in Europe and the global Infrastructure group. Based in London, England, he also assists in the overall development of the CPP Investment Board’s activities in the broader EMEA region.

Alain has more than 17 years of financial industry experience. Prior to joining CPPIB, Alain was most recently Managing Director at Goldman Sachs & Co. in their Investment Banking division in New York and London. Prior to that, he was an Associate at the New York-based law firm, Sullivan & Cromwell.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws from Laval University in Quebec City, a Masters in Law (D.E.S.S.) from the Sorbonne in Paris and a Masters in Law from Columbia University.

Bruce Hogg, Vice President, Head of Americas

Prior to joining the CPP Investment Board in October 2007, Bruce led the private markets infrastructure team at OPTrust. Previously, he spent a number of years working with Macquarie Bank in London and Toronto in corporate finance after having worked in investment banking at RBC Dominion Securities.

Andreas Koettering, Managing Director, Head of EMEA

Prior to joining the CPP Investment Board in October 2008, Andreas worked for twelve years in investment banking for Citigroup and Schroders, providing M&A and capital markets advice to clients in the infrastructure and utilities sectors. He also held positions as principal investor at Siemens in Hong Kong and Germany, and as project finance banker at Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) in Frankfurt.

Andreas graduated from the London School of Economics with a Bachelor of Science (Econ) and went on to obtain an M.Sc. in Agricultural Economics and a D. Phil., both from Oxford University.

Andrew Darling, Vice President

Prior to joining the Infrastructure team at CPPIB Andrew was CEO of HBOS Canada. In a  banking career focused on international and corporate banking Andrew was: head of HBOS’s corporate finance activities in Continental Europe with teams in Germany, France, Spain, The Netherlands and Sweden and the bank’s European head of credit. Andrew also ran HBOS’s infrastructure equity fund.

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Bankers in Scotland.

Dan Fetter

Daniel Fetter, Senior Principal

Prior to joining CPP Investment Board in April 2006, Dan worked as a Senior Consultant at TELUS focusing on business turnarounds and corporate restructuring and, prior to that, was a management consultant at the Boston Consulting group in Toronto.

Mark Jenkins, Vice President, Head of Principal Investments

Mark oversees the CPPIB's multi-faceted global private debt and direct private equity investment programs. Previously, he was Managing Director, Co-Head of Leveraged Finance Origination and Execution for Barclays Capital in New York. Prior to that, he spent over 11 years at Goldman Sachs & Co. in senior positions within Fixed Income and Financing Groups in New York. He also held senior finance roles at Laidlaw Inc.

Mark holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Queen’s University and is a Chartered Accountant.

Jeff Donahue, Vice President, Head of Natural Resources

Jeff is responsible for developing and leading CPPIB’s private equity activities focused on the natural resources industries including oil and gas, mining and agricultural lands.

Prior to joining CPPIB, he was Vice President, Strategy and Business Development at BHP Billiton PLC in London.  Previously, he had a range of senior corporate development roles at Enron Corp and spent several years as both an investment banker and consultant to natural resource companies.

Jeff holds an undergraduate degree in applied mathematics from Harvard University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.He also serves as a director on behalf of CPPIB for Black Swan Energy, Laricina Energy, Quantum Utility Generation, Seven Generations and Teine Energy.

Shane Feeney, Vice President, Head of Direct Private Equity

Shane joins us from Bridgepoint Capital Limited in London. Prior to Bridgepoint, Shane was a partner and founding member of Hermes Private Equity’s direct investing business until its transition to Bridgepoint in 2009. He had also previously been an Associate Director with Morgan Grenfell Private Equity in London.

Shane has a BA in Economics from Dartmouth College and an MBA from INSEAD.

Erik Levy, Senior Principal

Prior to joining the CPP Investment Board in November 2005, Erik held various positions at Bain & Company in Toronto and Paris. Previously, he was also part of the pension consulting practice at William M. Mercer.

Angus Selby, Senior Principal

Angus joins us as a Senior Principal to head up our Agriculture Investing Initiative. Previously he was a Principal and Portfolio Manager (Agriculture) at Altima Partners in London, and before that was a Vice-President at Morgan Stanley Commodities.He has also worked with a number of development organizations including Pegasys Strategy and Development and the World Bank.

Angus was a Beit Scholar at Oxford, where he graduated with a DPhil and MPhil in International Development, and also holds a BSc Hons (Agriculture) from London University.

Adam Vigna, Vice President, Head of Private Debt

Adam is responsible for CPPIB’s private debt investment program. He joined the CPP Investment Board in 2009 and has been a member of the Private Debt group since its inception.  Adam is a member of the Private Investments Investment Committee and Credit Investments Committee.

Prior to joining the CPP Investment Board in February 2009, Adam was a Vice President at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in the Americas Special Situations Group (“AmSSG”) in New York and Toronto.  In this role he was responsible for the group’s Canadian energy effort focusing on both debt and equity investments.  Before joining AmSSG, Adam worked in Goldman’s Investment Banking Division in New York where he was a part of their Financial Institutions Group (“FIG”).

David Allen, Managing Director, Private Debt

Prior to joining the CPP Investment Board, David was a partner and portfolio manager at GoldenTree Asset Management.  David founded and ran GoldenTree’s London office and was responsible for their European investments.  Prior to that, David worked at Morgan Stanley for 10 years where he worked in their Mergers and Acquisitions department, Investment Banking in Hong Kong and finally in Fixed Income, where he was Associate Director of High Yield Research and a multi-year Institutional Investor All-Star analyst in the Media, Satellite and Cable sectors.

David holds a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley, where he was an all-conference rower.

David Colla, Senior Principal

Prior to joining the CPP Investment Board, David was a Senior Vice President in the Mezzanine Finance Group at Oaktree Capital Management in New York.  Prior to that, David was a Vice President at JPMorgan within its Leveraged Finance and Principal Investments groups in New York.

David holds an MBA from The Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario and a BAH in Economics from Queen’s University.

Andrew Edgell 

Andrew Edgell, Senior Principal

Prior to joining CPP Investment Board, Andrew was Vice-President in the private debt and special opportunities fund at Fortress Investment Group in Toronto. Previously, he was a Vice-President with KPMG Transaction Advisory.

Andrew is a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Business Valuator, and holds a B.Comm. from McGill University.

John Graham, Senior Principal

John is responsible for developing an investment platform focused on intellectual property.  Prior to joining CPP Investment Board in January 2008, John was a Principal in Strategy and Alliances in the Xerox Innovation Group.

John holds an MBA from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto and a PhD from the University of Western Ontario.

David MacNaughtan, Senior Principal

Prior to joining CPP Investment Board, David was the Executive Vice President and Co-Head of the Royalty Monetization Fund of DRI Capital (formerly Drug Royalty Corporation Inc.), a specialty finance company focused on royalty-based investments, where he sourced, negotiated and oversaw the due diligence on the acquisition of pharmaceutical royalty entitlements.  David was previously the Vice President of Business Development at Paladin Labs Inc., and an Investment Manager with Royal Bank Capital Corp. 

David obtained his MBA from the University of Toronto and graduated with a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Queen’s University at Kingston.

  Nina Tao, Senior Principal

Nina is responsible for leading private debt principal investing activities in Asia.

Prior to CPP, Nina was at Mount Kellett Capital where she was Managing Director and Head of Transactions - Asia. Previously she was a Director at Deutsche Bank Hong Kong where she focused on investing the firm’s proprietary capital.  Nina was also a Principal with Invesco Private Capital in New York and, prior to that, worked at both Merrill Lynch and Bankers Trust.

Nina holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, and BS in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Bill Ammons, Principal

Prior to joining CPP Investment Board, Bill worked in the Restructuring and Leveraged Finance Groups at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in London. Before joining Merrill Lynch in 2006, Bill worked in the Leveraged Finance Group at Wachovia.

Bill holds a Master of Accounting and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with Distinction from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

  Mustafa Humayun, Principal 

Prior to joining CPP Investment Board, Mustafa was an investment professional at a multi-strategy hedge fund in Greenwich, Connecticut. Before that, he was an investment professional at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in the Americas Special Situations Group (“AmSSG”) in New York and Toronto. In this role he was responsible for making debt and equity investments across a variety of different sectors. He was also responsible for the group’s investments in Latin America.

Prior to joining the CPP Investment Board, Manjot worked at The Catalyst Capital Group, a distressed focused fund with over $2.5bn in assets under management. At his role at Catalyst, Manjot was focused on control and/or influence investments in distressed and undervalued situations. Before joining Catalyst, Manjot worked in the Leveraged Finance Group at Barclays Capital and Citigroup in New York. In addition to the above, Manjot spent some time in a research role at the D.E. Shaw Group in New York.

Manjot holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance and International Business from The Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University.

Paul ShopiroPrincipal
